LITE Lab@HKU partners with MEFTI 2020 (20-28 August 2020)
The annual MIT Entrepreneurship & FinTech Integrator (MEFTI) took place again from 20 to 28 August 2020. MEFTI is a FinTech venture-building bootcamp for students who are ready to make an industry impact. Students from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Hong Kong universities will form teams, tackle real-world industry challenges, and build a FinTech startup with a viable business model. Through workshops, networking opportunities and time-compressed team collaboration projects, students gained valuable and practical insight into the workings of the FinTech and startup sector. The programme concludes with a Showcase, where teams present their pitches to a panel of judges including industry professionals and investors.
Brian Tang, the founding executive director of LITE Lab@HKU, was the one who suggested that the bootcamp should consider recruitment of law students and in fact contributed by recruiting law students from HKU and serving as a Mentor for the 2020 cohort. Kimberley Cheah, a student in the 2020 fall semester cohort for LITE Lab @ HKU, also participated in MEFTI 2020 as one of the competing teams.
